This page is more of a starting point—a handful of ideas Denae came up with to get the creativity flowing. Think of it like a menu-in-progress. We’d love to share the ideas below and hear what resonates with you!

Hi there,

Denae and I really enjoyed our stay at The Balch last winter, and Denae always loves the opportunity to teach art there as well.

We wanted to reach out to see if The Balch might be interested in a creative exchange: Denae and I would offer unique art experiences for your guests at no charge to guests or you, in return for a room during the nights she teaches—plus possibly a day or two beforehand for setup and prep.

We’re not sure what your current booking situation looks like or what might be most beneficial for you, but we’d love to chat about what could work if this idea sparks your interest!

The art experiences could be advertised as complimentary for guests during those days, or even bundled into a special package—whatever fits your vision best.

This would be great, as the Balch would have days of no cost activities for guests, and we would get a nice little reprieve out in Dufur.

Thursday (Opening Day)

  • 6:00 PM – Opening Campfire & Crafts

    • “Box of Mystery” crafts and prompts

  • Evening – Meet & Greet

Friday

  1. 8:30 AM – Breakfast & Journaling

  2. 1:00–3:00 PM – Plein Air Afternoon Class

  3. 6:00–9:00 PM – Watercolor Crafts

    1. indoor/outdoor.

Saturday

  1. 8:30 AM – Breakfast & Journaling

  2. 1:00–3:00 PM – Afternoon Tea & Ink Session

  3. 6:00–8:00 PM – Create Nite!

  4. After Paint Nite – Karaoke to Follow

    • DJ May Be Present

Sunday (Closing)

  1. 10:00 AM – Commencement

    • Mimosas & Journaling
